#179: Asking for More Money

Money is a touchy subject for a lot of people.

It can feel emotionally charged, so the topic is avoided at all costs.

So, of course we're talking about it in this week's episode of Be a Better Lawyer Podcast!

If you notice you feel tense or anxious when you think about money, it's a sign you have thoughts about money that aren't serving you or your business.

That's why in this week's episode, I want to continue our conversation about value that we started in last week's episode and talk about asking for more money.

When I wrote this episode, I specifically had in mind law firm owners raising their rates, but this episode is for lawyers who are associates too.

In this episode, you'll learn tools that will help you

  • reign in the emotions when you think about money
  • make decisions in alignment with what you want, and
  • build confidence to raise your rates.

It's easy to let a podcast go in one ear and out the other when you're commuting to work or cleaning the house while listening, but if you sit with this episode and implement what you learn here, you could increase your income by tens of thousands of dollars by working on your mindset here.

This can be life-altering.

All right, my friend. Buckle up, and let's get to work.

If money is a topic that feels emotionally charged to you, it doesn't have to be that way.

Getting out of the mental and emotional drama of money that our society teaches us is work worth doing because it can help us make better quality choices that will make us feel more fulfilled.

We miss opportunities to allow money to flow to us when we get caught up in the mental drama about money.

Getting out of the drama to make better decisions is some of the work I do with clients.

We work through the fears that come up by cleaning up their thought processes, and they enable themselves to take the actions that will be most impactful to increasing revenue in their practice.

The best thing I ever invested in was a coach who could clear my mind drama over raising my rates and how I think about money and the value of the services I provide.

If you're lacking confidence to go after what you want — whether it's raising your rates, learning how to be a leader in your firm, or finding a new position — the best investment you'll ever make is hiring a coach you click with who can help you make the gains you want to make.

If you're clicking with me and you're ready to do this work, book a call with me.

Growing your practice and growing into the kind of lawyer that runs a business effectively and makes your life easier takes learning tools and strategies, then practicing them consistently.

This work is just like going to the gym. You've got to go consistently to see the gains you want to see, and it helps to have a personal trainer who knows the easiest route to help you get what you want.

I can help you get those gains in your law practice, and if you're feeling curious about what it might look like to move away from your law practice, I can help you explore that too.

Click here to book a call, and we'll talk about what it would look like for you to get the tools and strategies you need to start feeling more fulfilled whether you decide to practice law or not.
