#203: Unraveling Your Stories

Unraveling your stories isn't easy.

The subconscious brain stores all our beliefs, and it makes decisions and takes actions based on those beliefs.

Our beliefs are our stories about who we are and what our identity is.

  • Are we good/bad?
  • Are we important/unimportant?
  • Are we capable/incapable?

These stories drive the car that is our life.

Our stories determine the quality of our life.

The problem is most of us can't see our stories for what they are: stories that can be changed.

Most people don't do the work to unravel the stories they have about their life and stay stuck.

Even if you can see your stories, it can be hard to change them.

The prospect of changing who we are and the stories that make up who we are is terrifying.

What people do is feel terror in their body and make that mean it's a terrible idea to do anything differently.

They make it another piece of evidence to support their story that they can't change. That they can't do what they want to do.

In this week's episode of the Be a Better Lawyer Podcast, learn how to unravel your stories, so you can make the change you're seeking.

Today you'll learn:

  • what beliefs drive your actions
  • how to unravel your stories, so you can take the wheel of your life
  • what negativity bias is, and how it influences your decisions

Listen in, and begin taking back control of your life.
